THE BITTER BATTLE TEARS

HVS 5a / 26 metres

Film: 38 minutes

An intriguing route next to a cave, deep among the trees.

A challenging, overhanging roof forms the start… and 26 metres later the finish is via an ancient overhanging oak tree!

Strip Pockets, jugs, and overhangs lie between.

Views from the tree-top top-out are spectacular, with the river Wye lapping the woodland below, and Tintern Abbey glinting on the far bank.

Shorn Cliff lies deep in Shorncliff Woods. Marked paths lead from the forest ride to it. Route 3a leads to the Great Central Cave Area, where “The Bitter Battle Tears” is located.
